Colombo Night Races Vs Mufthi Ismail Menk Lectures: Where Do I Go?

May you live in interesting times. Today and tomorrow (December 16 & 17) are big days for Colombo Muslims. Two big events are going to take place on these two nights in  Colombo.

1) Colombo Night Races.

2) 2011 Sri Lanka Lecture Tour of Mufthi Ismail Menk of Zimbabwe

For the first time in Sri Lankan history they are having organized and authorized street races around Colombo Fort on a proper 2km street circuit. This event will probably garner the attention of some of our Muslim youth in Colombo and Suburbia. Some of them may have already bought tickets for the races.

However on the same night elsewhere in Colombo, world famous Islamic scholar and orator Mufthi Ismail Menk will be delivering lectures based on Qur’an and Sunnah which will also inshallah attract and bring to the lecture venues, thousands of Muslims from Colombo and Suburbs.

The big question is where will you go? Will you go to the Races or will you come for the lectures. Remember its easy to take the easy path of pleasing ourselves and our desires. I hope you will watch the below video… It is the video preliminary for Mufthi Menk’s December 2011 Sri Lanka tour.

Included in this promotional video is a good piece of advice given by the Mufthi at previous lectures.  “Whenever there is a message towards goodness, if we adopt it we will be successful, even if it is difficult to adopt.” That makes my mind. I’m going to the lectures.
