Update: I’m made a mistake earlier. this bayan was held in Tamil. Normally Poya Day Bayans at Bambalapitiya Nimal Road Mosque are conducted in English. So I assumed this would be to without looking closely at the poster here.
Inshallah, Hasan Fareen Moulavi (who runs the Nida Dawah foundation) will be doing the English language Poya Day bayan in Bambalapitiya Nimal Road mosque on this 13 of August 2011 from 10.30 AM to Luhur (12. 17 p.m). The lecture will also be available for live listening and download later on at slmuslims.com.
Here is the poster that was posted in notice boards of almost all Colombo and suburbs mosque and also sent out by slmuslims.com and team to Colombo.

I hope more mosques will follow suit the example set by such English Poya Day bayans at Bambalapitiya Nimal Road mosque by Darul Uloom Islamiyya. Its very commendable they do it in English language. Today an alarming majority of the Sri Lankan Masjids and organisations conduct their affairs in Tamil language only. But Malay Muslims of Sri Lanka don’t know Tamil and are left out of Islamic activities and mosques. Moor Muslims of Sri Lanka are also moving away from Tamil at a alarming pace towards English and Sinhala. More than 50% of Muslim students in Colombo, Kandy and other Sourthen towns of Sri Lanka study in English or Sinhala medium. These new generation can’t read Tamil and some of them can’t even speak Tamil.
So if you are a member or know a member of a Mosque or Islamic organisation or involved in any Islamic program or activity please make it a priority to address this language issue.
