Islamic Bayan Locations in Sri Lanka for 7 Feb 2012 Poya Day Holiday

Assalamu Alaikum,
Today is a Tuesday but it is a public, bank and mercantile holiday in Sri Lanka. That’s because it is a monthly full moon day which is  important religious day for Buddhists. The Sri Lanka Government has made this day a holiday so that the devote Buddhists can observe and participate in their religious activities. However Sri Lankan Muslims also get this day off from our work and businesses. But what do we do on this day? Wouldn’t it be great if we can use this free holiday to do something useful instead of waste this free chance we get once a month just watching TV or playing Games?

As you may know Bambalapitiya Nimal Road mosque committee is very active in utilizing this Poya Day holiday in Sri Lanka. They organise English bayans every month on this day. It seems this month, Nida Foundation has followed their example and organised a bayan (lecture) in another Sri Lankan mosque. Alhamdulilallah. If you are near any of these mosques please try to attend them. Don’t go to them with the intention of listening to a famous scholar’s bayan or just with the intention of learning some new things. Go to them with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure alone and Allah will help you get the most of out of these bayans.

Please also try to tell the elders and mosque committee people of your local mosques about this idea of organizing special bayans on Poya days in your village or town mosques.
